Last weekend on the 30 and 31st of October two of our teams, the U11 and U15 have participated in the Doral Gold Cup in beautiful Naples, Florida. As always, we could feel the excitement of the players and parents in the air all along with the 2-day tournament.
As mentioned, only two Boy teams were able to participate in this tournament, but they fought like it was their last one.
U11 were missing a bit of luck
Despite giving their hearts out on the field, the U11 Boys had a rough tournament. In the first game against Fort Myers Athletic, our boys were not able to overcome a rival that started the game better off. We still want to acknowledge that they had fun playing football, and that is important too!
Furthermore, in their second game against ASKHO Kendall Hammocks, the boys met some difficulties and seems unable to play their usual game. Nevertheless, even though the rivals took the win once again, the boys tried the best they could in a difficult situation.
Moving to the third and last game we could say that the boys were able to finish off on a good note. They met another team of ASKHO Kendall Hammocks and were able to put up a solid performance. After a really close game, the end result was 2-1 for B1, giving a huge smile on the faces of the players when the final whistle blew.
U15 leave Naples with their heads high
The U15 Boys also met with strong opponents that were ready to fight hard. Their first game faced them to Weston Select. The B1 boys definitely started strong but lacked efficiency in the offensive part of their game. The rivals, on the other hand, were able to find the back of the net which was a direct hit to the mind of the team. Unfortunately, after battling hard, the U15 was not able to overcome Weston.
Later that day, they faced Kendall Hammocks, which was also looking pretty good in the tournament. Our U15 team, with a little blow to the mind after the first defeat, was not yet completely focused in the game. Kendall took advantage of this and was able to score.
Afterward coming back into the game was challenging but great efforts and commitment were given from our side. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to overcome Kendall, end result of 0-2.
Despite losing their two prior games, the boys wanted to redeem themselves and came in the third game with a different attitude. Facing Doral, the host team of the tournament, the boys would have to play hard in order to take the win home.
That’s is exactly what happened when the U15 were able to take control of the game and dominate the rivals. After scoring three goals to nothing, the boys could come back with something at home, a well-deserved win!
Congratulations to both teams and a big thank you to the supporters joining and cheering for the B1 colors. Go B1!
